If you want to experience the very best of Dubai’s famous hospitality, you head for The Address Montgomerie Dubai. Opened in 2002, the hugely enjoyable and expansive layout designed by Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie winds through the extravagant Emirates Hills estate and combines the best qualities of resort golf with a championship test from the back tees.
The Address Montgomerie Dubai is one of the most luxurious golfing experiences you will encounter in Dubai. Located within the emirate’s most opulent residential estate, visitors to the driving range, academy and par 3 course enjoy an entirely separate clubhouse. The main clubhouse itself is majestic, housing 21 boutique hotel rooms, an award-winning restaurant, spa and outdoor swimming pool.Managed by Troon Golf, this luxury extends to the golf course, which boasts a well-appointed refreshment hut on each nine. The Monty, as it is affectionately known, is a hugely enjoyable course to play. It may harbour the formidable total of 14 lakes and 81 bunkers, but predominantly the landing areas are generous and it’s a good test for golfers of all levels.
One notably less charitable exception is the famous par 5 18th hole. Playing 656 yards from the back tee, the hole provides stunning vistas of the Dubai Marina skyline looking back towards the clubhouse, but water is a constant menace and it’s not a hole you would relish taking on with your last golf ball.
Although large in size, the greens - consistently rolling above 9.5 feet on the stimpmeter and tricky to read – make for some very trying putts.
One of the other signature holes is the par 5 fourth, featuring a saddleback fairway that snakes towards the green, with two bunkers behind forming a pair of menacing eyes.
The par 3 13th, a spectacular hole designed in the shape of the UAE, has a 360 degree teeing area around an island fairway and green, allowing for a completely different golf hole to be played every time.
